Booking contact: Tanya Kiang, Curator, Gallery of Photography Ireland
No of places available: 5. Please allow approx 50 minutes for a session
What type of photographs are we looking to scan? We love to see all kinds of photos, from 1840s up to 1990s. We are especially looking for photos from America in the 20th century that tell us about people’s daily lives – how they dressed, travelled, worked, played; how they kept in touch with relatives; and how they chose to represent themselves to the camera.
What happens at the scanning session? We make a digital copy of each photograph using a pro-quality scanner – you take your photographs home with you, along with a copy of the scans for your own archive.
Sharing on the Photo Album website We upload the scans to the project website (subject to your approval). We also keep a copy of the scans for possible inclusion in books, exhibitions or educational programs about the project (again, with your approval).
