What is happening in the photo?

Frances Rowe and Edward Flynn with friend in Kilcurry, on the border with south Armagh near Dundalk, County Louth. Frances (Fanny) loved going to open air dances which were held often (but not always) at the crossroads – but certainly at main border crossing points such as the Louth-Armagh border at Dungooley.

Following the death of her parents Fanny entered domestic service for Goodlet Hamill in his Big House (now demolished) which stood on the site of the new Catholic Church in Fatima.

This images has been scanned from a very small box brownie image. Writing on reverse ” Edward Flynn & Frances Rowe xx 7/33″
